art as practice

community as purpose

under the same sky

our origin story:

Same Sky began with a simple conversation between two neighbors over coffee. We found ourselves sharing the same frustrations about disconnection and the same dreams of a creative community. We talked about how our neighborhoods felt increasingly isolated, how people walked past each other without seeing, and how desperately we all seemed to need spaces where vulnerability wasn't just allowed but celebrated. We wondered what might happen if we created that space ourselves.

What began as an idle hope, transformed into monthly gatherings in our local coffee shop. We made art and wrote together. We practiced listening without fixing, sharing without fear, and holding space for grief alongside joy.

Our workshops evolved organically, shaped by the pulse of the community: a night for storytelling about ancestral healing, exploring creative approaches to conflict, and always, always, examining how our bodies hold and carry our traumas and our resilience.

Same Sky exists because we believe restoration happens through connection. We believe liberation requires us to see ourselves in each other. And we've found that when people create together, something shifts— a soft remembrance that we've been looking at the same sky all along.

We didn't build this community because we had all the answers. We built it because we needed it too. And it turns out, so did many others.

our next gathering:

SUNDAY, MARCH 16 / 4-7PM

Let’s come together to reflect, create, and imagine the kind of community we all deserve.
